Whiskeytown and Lassen Volcanic – California

We moved to Redding, California, to an RV park called Fawndale Oaks.  A day later, we went to Whiskeytown National Recreation Area.

The small museum had displays about how Whiskeytown used to be a gold rush town.  We hiked a trail there called Shasta Divide Nature Trail.

Then, we visited Lassen Volcanic National Park.  We got to go on a snowshoe hike that was guided.  The snow was actually 20 feet above the forest floor, so it was dangerous to not use snowshoes in some areas.  I think the temperature was around 50 or 60 degrees (F).  We saw the volcanoes, and learned that none of them had erupted in the past 100 years.
